BL Tell us what you do for a living.

I am the Director of Pascack Valley Meals on Wheels.  Our program delivers meals to Seniors and disabled adults in 26 northern Bergen County towns and recently started delivering meals to families that are dealing with Breast Cancer.  We cover all of Bergen County, Westchester County and parts of Passaic County.

BL Tell us what you do for fun.

For fun, I love to read, play trivia, and explore new places.  My family has an extensive history in Bergen County going back to the early 1600's, so I like to visit historical sites in the County.  A real joy for me is playing with my 4 year old nephew and trying to convince his 5 month old sister that I'm not an evil witch!

I'm very involved with my Church and enjoy participating in activities there.
BL What is your favorite Bergen LEADS memory?

We had done some skits in class and one of the groups pretended to have a Pizzeria called Yitzeria run by our classmate Yitz Stern. They were hysterical!

BL What was your biggest takeaway from your Bergen LEADS year?

People are good and kind.  During my class year, my personal life was at an all-time low.  I was dealing with my daughter's addiction to heroin and my Mom was seriously ill and passed away midway through the year.  I shared my situation with the class and the support I received from all of them is something I will carry in my heart forever.

BL How has your experience in Bergen LEADS impacted your life, personally and/or professionally?

LEADS changed my life. (I know we all say that, but its TRUE!)  I learned that by sharing my story about my daughter, I could help other people dealing with the same issue.  It has inspired me to get involved with the Recovery movement in Bergen County and in the state.  I have more confidence in my skills and abilities and have no hesitation about presenting or asking for support for causes that are meaningful to me.

BL If you were talking to someone who was thinking about applying to Bergen LEADS, what would you tell him/her?

Do it!!  You will learn things about Bergen County you would never have an opportunity to learn anywhere else.  You will connect with people who will help you in ways you would never expect and you will learn things about yourself and your leadership style and personality that will empower you to make a difference in the world
