Attending Bergen LEADs was the best thing I have ever done. It has taught me that there is this whole big world outside of the Bergen County bubble that I have lived in. I have become more aware of the needs and struggles of my neighbors. It has helped me to grow both personally and professionally.
Bergen LEADs gave me the "push" I needed to reach out and to hopefully touch the lives of others. Since graduating from LEADs I am proud to say that I helped plan and execute the" First Access for All Event" in Rutherford, NJ. I also spoke at the Bergen County Symposium on Access for All and how important it is for non-profits and profits to collaborate, which happened to be a class project for the Safely Back Home Program, with the Rutherford Police Department. I am in the process of being considered to be a Board Member for the Bergen County Workforce Development Committee. Through my employer BCB Community Bank I was able to host families with differently able children to experience Disney on Ice, an event that they had never been able to attend before.
LEADs also gave me courage, the courage to take a leap of faith and change employers after eight years, which has turned out to be a great opportunity for me; I am now a Cluster Manager of the 3 branches that BCB has opened in Bergen County.
Bergen LEADs was a once in a lifetime experience I will never forget because of the people I met, the support I continue to receive and hopefully give to fellow Leaders.
To quote Dr. Seuss "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better it’s not", which is why I am Happy to BLAME IT ON LEADS!!!!
