Several years ago I, along with John Boswick and Kate Surgent, decided to open an affiliate in North Jersey of a national organization based in Portland, Maine; iTNAmerica. The sole purpose of our non-profit is transportation, specifically geared to those 60+ and the visually impaired. The three of us worked tirelessly searching for start-up funding without much luck. That is until I applied to and was accepted into Bergen LEADs Class '14. Specifically, Lynne Algrant, Amanda Missey and Janet Sharma were unfailingly generous of their time and supportive of our goal to help Bergen County's Senior and Visually Impaired residents get where they need to go, when they need to get there. Through their helpful advice and the all imperative introductions, iTNNorthJersey began operating in June 2015. We now have more than 150 member riders along with 70 + volunteer drivers. We're thrilled to "Blame it on LEADS"!"
